Ethan's First Movie!!

Ethan's first movie.  It is not professional, but kids love this kind of stuff.  The best part about it is anyone can do it.  If you know how to type and have some imagination you can really make a cool movie to share with friends and family.

Hope For The Future

I think about my childhood often and what the world was like back then....It seems like a lifetime ago, however I remember the world being a much better place.  It frightens me to think about the future of my children.  I believe that unless many things change they will not have the same opportunities that my generation had and took for granted.  Politicians are playing not only with our immediate future, but the future of our children, which is unforgivable to me.  My hope is that the people of this country wake up and remember the values and patriotism in which our country was built.  I will be the first to admit that we need change, however we need the kind of change that comes with honesty, hard work, values and leading by example.  Promises are fantastic, unfortunately, empty promises leave us in the kind of situation our country is in now....whatever side of the isle you may be on, it is hard to deny that we are not headed in the ideal direction.  I have not lost faith that we can turn this situation around, however I do believe our buffer is becoming smaller by the day.  I promised to dedicate this blog to everything kids, and in my opinion this little rant is the least I can do for them.

Simple Fun

Two words,  PAPER AIRPLANES....Children love to build them almost as much as they love to fly them.  I will say this, it will teach you patience and your house will most likely be cluttered with them, but it is well worth it.  The scenario goes like this....My 5 year old and I build them together by reading directions and looking at pics out of a paper airplane kit we bought him for his birthday.  The problem is as we build them my 2 year old destroys them.   If they were in construction....the oldest would be an architect and the youngest heading up demolition :).  Anyway, if you have never tried it then give it a whirl. It will keep everyone busy for hours of fun.

You can Google paper airplane building or go to your local hobby shop.  There are loads of different ones to build...I remember building the same one over and over and over again while growing up and it never seemed to get boring...just imagine if we had 10 or 15 different ones to build :)

Baby Talk!

Our youngest son is around 2 1/2 years old now.  Like most kids, his first words were " mamamama" and "dadadadada".  However, those are really the only words he will say with any regularity.  I think it may be a stubborn streak or something, because every once in a while he will come out with a full sentence and it blows our minds :).  We do all the normal things that parents do to nudge things along....we patiently try to get him to ask for things instead of just handing them over, we sound out the words for him, read to him...you name it and we try it.   Any ideas how to help this progress??  We never had this problem with our 5 year old.  The little rascal you see below is Stubborn, Stubborn!!!!!!

Introduction

Hi,

I am Jason a 37 soon to be 38 year old husband and father of three boys.  My boys range in age from 2-11 and they really know how to keep our life busy!!!  My youngest son is two years old and <WOW> what a handful he can be.  The middle son is 5 and will be starting kindergarten this year. Last but not least, my oldest is 11 and lives in Virginia Beach with his grandparents at the moment. I am working hard to change that situation.

This blog is going to be kind of an experiment for me.  Children can be the joy of your life and they can also be one of the biggest causes of stress in your life.   Therefore, I have not had a choice, but to come up with some very creative ways to keep my boys occupied.  Hopefully, we can share experiences and creative ways to educate, entertain and even discipline our kids when necessary.
